June adventures: Bike rides, pool parties, seeing old friends, and more!

Time flew by in June once the girls were out of school. They participated in some wonderful summer camps at St. Richard's, and we spent our weekends taking advantage of the hot summer weather and getting ready for our upcoming adventure to the Netherlands and England.

One weekend, our whole family managed to bike all the way from our house to Fort Ben State Park and back. I was especially proud of Moira because she biked all 9 miles herself! And Hannah seemed quite content in our carrier, which I pulled because we knew that in the Netherlands Alan would have Moira on his bike as a tagalong rider and I would have Hannah in a trailer on my bike.

At St. Richard's, Moira participated in a beginning Karate class and Hannah did a Dr. Seuss play with her fellow rising Kindergarten friends. Hannah was also very excited to meet Elsa at the end of one of the summer camps (although not one I would enroll her in...our girls have a tendency toward dolls and princesses, so we try to introduce them to different activities when we can in an effort to broaden their interests).

We also traveled to St. Louis for a weekend when Aunt Jean and Uncle Joe were in town. Ann and Paul Russell, my cousins, opened up their house and fabulous pool to all of us, and we had a great time! It was one of the first times Kate's twins encountered a pool, and they were mostly okay with it. It was a very hot day! If I remember correctly, we had a great time with  Marty and his family at his house that evening, but then Moira was sick in the middle of the night, so it was a long ride home and then a trip to the immediate care place where we found out that M had a double ear infection after spending hours in the pool the day before! I felt like mother of the year in that moment :)

One of my favorites of Gus!
We celebrated Father's Day with Dad at Hoaglin's at the CityWay YMCA. The girls loved exploring that part of downtown Indy.

We also hosted a birthday party for Linda, our dear friend who is practically an extended family member. The girls were very excited to prepare for and throw the party for Linda!

We also still spend a good deal of time on playgrounds! We rode our bikes to the playground...just to practice for the bike trip in the Netherlands in July. Grandma and Grandpa accompanied us this time.

And last but certainly not least, almost all of my closest high school friends came into town for our 20-year high school reunion. (We missed Katy that evening)! It was a nice enough night where we were able to catch up with each other as well as many old faces from Cathedral. I feel so grateful to have these wonderful women and their families in my life. I only wish that we were able to see each other more frequently.

After the reunion, we had a large "play date" at Sarah's house, and everyone's kids (including Katy's) were present. See below for the epic staircase picture where almost everyone is looking at the camera. We were lucky to get Fletcher in the photo.
