Learning to bike and swim!
The girls spent most of the summer in swimming lessons at Lawrence North, and they started to pay off for Moira especially. She finally became comfortable with putting her head underwater. And she started to have a lot more fun in the water. Hannah, on the other hand, was pretty resistant to the water (following in her big sister's footsteps, apparently). However, she still enjoys paddling, and I have high hopes for a breakthrough for Hannah in summer 2016. I think it is safe to say that my girls will not find themselves on a swim team any time soon, but I do hope that we get to the point where they are comfortable in the water and can swim all four strokes.
Another exciting moment occurred this summer when Moira rode her bike on her own! I come from a family of avid cyclists, so this was a very important moment to me. She did a great job, and she spent the remainder of the summer and fall getting more and more comfortable on her bike. So proud of her!
Last but not least, we spent Labor Day with Aunt Kate at the Monon Center in Carmel. The complex is a fantastic place with lots of different kinds of water activities for all ages, and we wanted to go back after a fun birthday party earlier in the summer. Moira was very brave (compared to previous years); she even tried rock climbing and almost went down a water slide until we were told that she wasn't tall enough to participate!
