Indiana State Fair and End-of-Summer Parties!

This year was a particularly memorable State Fair for me because our team at DWD worked to organize "internships" for at-risk youth at the fair at the request of Lieutenant Governor Ellspermann. We called the program the "Hoosier Fair Corps," and I had the pleasure of meeting with the LG at the state fairgrounds to discuss an upcoming meeting.

Afterwards, I met my mom and Hannah, and we watched Chinese Acrobats, walked around the Department of Natural Resources area, and headed to the little farmer section with Hannah. It was a great day!

Moira was sad that she didn't get to go with Hannah, so our family went with the Charltons using the train that runs right by our house while the State Fair is happening.

The kids had a great time exploring the pig barn, the chicken and rabbit barn, grabbing a milkshake and grilled cheese sandwich from the Dairy Barn, and, of course, they loved the rides too! Moira went on some big kid rides with Jack and Claire while Hannah went on the Ferris Wheel twice. We even made it around to the back side of the fair where all of the farm equipment is located. The tractors are enormous!

We also celebrated Fletcher's 2nd birthday at the Eli house. The girls had a great time playing with Fletcher and Julian as well as the boy's cousins. They were able to do art projects, sing happy birthday, and play in the boys' new playroom!

We also had a great time at our neighborhood's end-of-summer celebration complete with bbq, beer, and lots of fun activities for the girls.

It was a busy August for the Mackintosh family, but we certainly shared a lot of great moments together.
