Cousins visit in July!
The Lukens came for an impromptu visit right before school started in August. We were so excited to see all of them at varying times throughout the week...including the first night they arrived! Moira and Hannah loved having their cousins over dinner and bedtime stories!
One of the days that the Lukens were in town, they played downtown and waited very patiently for me to finish up my day at work. The highlight was visiting the Firehouse by the Canal. I wish I could have been there to see it in person, but I love the photo!
The next day we met everyone at Rockola for breakfast. This is mom and dad's favorite breakfast diner (due in part to a fantastic owner and in part to its nostalgic '50s decor), which they were excited to share with all of the grandkids. We arrived a bit late and found that the family had naturally separated into boy and girl tables! Too funny.
Later that day we went downtown to shop for Colts gear, and our big family split up into two groups. Some decided to go on a tour of Lucas Oil Stadium while others went to the Art Museum. At the Art Museum, we went to a wonderful exhibit on the design of cars throughout the century. Moira was really into it!
One of the highlights of the week for me was going downtown to White River State Park, renting bikes of all different shapes and sizes, and biking around behind the zoo and through IUPUI's campus. We had a bit of trouble at the beginning determining who would use which bike, but once our family sorted that out, we had a lot of fun!
And of course, no Luken visit would be complete without a trip to the Children's Museum.
Some of the best times, though, are the quiet times at home. I love that I was able to steal the photo below of Joe and Moira.
And last, but certainly not least, we had a great time celebrating Grandma and Grandpa's 39th anniversary at one of their favorite places, the Iron Skillet.
