Hannah's Birthday Part 2 (and Mother's Day)!

Instead of doing a party this year, we decided to spend the day with Connor, Hunter, and Ryder--the Brown boys--in St. Louis. Connor and Hannah were both born in May but one day and one year apart. Connor had a teenage mutant ninja turtle-themed party, and the girls had a great time celebrating with him and playing all day long at his house!

I love how Hannah's licking her lips in preparation for tasty cake.

The next day was Mother's Day. Moira and Hannah gave me lovely handmade cards and a little tote decorated with handprints before we left for St. Louis, which made me feel so special. We celebrated Mother's Day at the St. Louis Art Museum's brunch, and it was fantastic. Lots of my extended family from St. Louis were there because all of my mom's sisters were in town from a wedding the day before.

After the brunch, the younger generation went outside to play in Forest Park. It was a beautiful day, and we ended up walking all the way down this enormous hill to explore the park.

Isn't Forest Park beautiful?!

Love, love, love to watch Connor helping Hannah climb the hill.
We also went to visit my Grandma's grave on Mother's Day. My mom asked me to take a photo, and it's a good photo of she and her sisters! I realize, though, that some who might read this blog thinks it's odd to post a photo from the cemetery. All I could think is how happy my Grandma would be with how her daughters' families still find ways to gather on a fairly routine basis.

Afterwards, we headed home. Hannah napped for a bit in the car, and then she did something really funny with a ball that Connor had given her. She picked it up, put it in front of her face, and said: "Look at me! I look like Rudolph!" Too funny.

When we arrived in Indianapolis, we stopped to see Aunt Kate. She hadn't been feeling well, so she wasn't able to travel to St. Louis. She made an amazing cake, though, for Hannah, and we celebrated Mother's Day with Grandma at Aunt Kate's as well.

Moira gave Grandma an apron with her artwork on it.

We gave mom a book of memories from all of her children and grandchildren!

Hannah had two miniature birthday parties--one at Aunt Kate's house and one at Grandma's house (it was a complicated weekend). She asked for a very specific cake design--a duck with red and orange "patterns." Aunt Kate, once again, did not fail to deliver! As you will see below, the girls had a great time with Aunt Kate and Uncle Scott (thanks for taking some beautiful photos, Uncle Scott)!

Note the red and orange "patterns"

Hannah is always so serious when we sing Happy Birthday to her...

...unless Aunt Kate tickles her!

Love this one. Hannah loves her stuffies.

Before heading back to Grandma's.
After Aunt Kate's, we did one final mini-party and Grandma's house. Grandpa and Uncle Joe took a detour on the way home from St. Louis, so it was just easier to meet them at home. It turns out that Hannah never tired of having "Happy Birthday" sung to her, and she was certainly thrilled when she received an "Elsa" dress from Grandma Jean. Moira was so jealous.

Whew! The first two weeks in May were certainly busy for us, and Hannah seemed to have a great time celebrating her birthday in many different settings--downtown at the canal, at home during breakfast, at the Children's Museum preschool, in St. Louis, at Aunt Kate's, and at Grandma's. She is a fortunate little girl to have so many people in her life who love her--both near and far.
