NCAA Final Four FanFest 2015

The NCAA Final Four tournament was held in Indianapolis this year, and we went downtown on Easter Sunday night with Grandma to take in the atmosphere. It seems like every time these tournaments come to town that our city uses the opportunity to offer more and more ways to engage the public in the sporting spectacle that is about to happen. This year was certainly no exception. We started off with a walk along the canal to meet Aunt Kate (who was working the event) and Uncle Scott.

We wanted to see the ferris wheel that Kate confirmed as the largest ferris wheel in Indianapolis (bigger than any at the State Fair). We were hoping to ride it (thinking that Easter Sunday night would not be too busy), but the lines were very long. So, we just took a look and then continued meandering our way to the convention center.

After we said goodbye to Uncle Scott, we stopped by the Indy sign to take our picture and support our city's efforts to make sure the world knows that we welcome everyone!

I also had to include a photo of the giant JW Marriott NCAA Bracket.

And finally, we made it to the FanFest. We caught a photo of CBS Sports reporters outside of the convention center before heading inside.

Inside of the Convention Center was a spectacle of lights, drama, sponsors, and lots of different NCAA sports being represented (everything from basketball to soccer to lacrosse). We spent a good bit of our time in the Coke zone gathering our stats on things like sprinting, vertical jump, round the world shots, passing, and lay-ups.You can see the girls experiencing these moments below. At the end, they received "prizes" for their hard work, and they were both very excited by the experience.

I thought that we were a bit mad to head downtown after all of our Easter festivities, but my mother is a true fan of Indy events (does not really matter what the nature of the event is), and I'm glad she convinced us to go because everybody had a great time.
