Winter 2015: Indoor Adventures
The first few days of 2015 greeted us with subzero weather, and in the weeks that followed, the bitter cold set in. Thus, we spent much of our time on the weekends at various indoor activities with family and friends. Below are lots of fun highlights from our indoor adventures.
We went to see the new Annie at the movie theater. Hannah loved it, and Moira did too...eventually. You see, she's not a big fan of movie theaters. Moira's imagination is so intense that she's wary of going to the movies. It's all so real to her that she gets scared. When we went to Paddington Bear, she was very nervous. She sat next to her Grandpa, buried her head in his arms, and he whispered to her what would happen next. She was amazed that he knew the story even though he had never seen it before. The good news is that the smoothies afterwards seemed to make up for any anxiety that she felt while watching the movie.
I love the photo below of Hannah. We've been going to McAllister's on Sundays after church, and Hannah loves the mirrors and the grilled cheese.
On another freezing weekend, we met the Eli family at a playground center in Noblesville. Sarah had to work pretty hard to keep track of Fletcher, but both he and Hannah loved the little playhouses. Moira and Julian loved spinning on the tire swing, and everyone had a great time on the trampolines.
On Martin Luther King Day, we met the Huffman family at the Children's Museum (a crazy move because it was packed). Despite the crowds, the girls had a great deal of fun playing with Ruby and Ray. We literally spent five hours in the museum that day (it is the longest visit we have ever had). Moira was thrilled to get back to the museum and see all of her favorite exhibits.
We invited the Charltons to go with us to Disney On Ice downtown. We met Claire and Emily at PF Chang's for dinner and then made our way over to Bankers Life Fieldhouse to see the show. Moira is quite into ice skating, and it didn't hurt that they were selling cotton candy as you can see from Hannah's expression below.
As has become a tradition, we celebrated Grandma's birthday at St. Elmo's Steakhouse a bit later in January during the annual Devour Downtown extravaganza.
We celebrated Julian's 5th birthday at Monkey Joe's. The girls had so much fun that they didn't want to leave. Hannah was jumping on all of the bounce houses no matter the size or how big the other kids were. Both of the girls love celebrating birthdays and now ask if we can go back to Monkey Joe's every weekend.
Hannah was featured very briefly as the sound technician on a TV set at the new Children's Museum exhibit. She and her friends from the Children's Museum Preschool were briefly on the local morning news highlights. She was completed intrigued with the huge microphones.
And last but certainly not least, we did spend a lot of time playing inside at Grandma's house, Aunt Kate's house, and of course the "princess castle." Below are a couple of candid pictures of the girls in action.
We managed to make the best of another very cold winter by finding lots of ways to have fun inside. We did manage to play a bit outside too, though, so stay tuned for some of our winter adventures that occurred outside.
