Multiple celebrations in November!

November is another big month of birthday celebrations amongst our family and friends. We kicked off the celebrations with Claire's birthday party at her gymnastics center. Both of my girls almost missed the party because they were under the weather and fell asleep on the way to the party. Fortunately, they woke up in time for cake and then went back out onto the floor to play at the end. Claire's always so good with Hannah--and I love the photo below!

We celebrated my dad's birthday by going to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to see the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit. The IMA has done a fantastic job of utilizing technology to encourage people of all ages to get engaged in the creative process, and the girls absolutely love going to the art museum (due in no small part to my dad's enthusiasm for the IMA). You'll see below that they drew on iPads, walked around the exhibit listening to the audio tour guide, did observational drawings, and then ended up at the Star Studio for kids, where they can do all kinds of different crafty and building projects.

After the IMA, we went back to our house for Grandpa's birthday celebration. We were all able to enjoy another one of Kate's amazing cakes. It was a really nice day for all of us. Happy 69th Birthday Dad!

About a week after Dad's celebration, we all got together at the bowling alley to celebrate Uncle Scott's 40th birthday. And by all--I mean Scott's friends, his family from the Muncie area, and our family too. There were probably 30 people there. I think this was the third or fourth birthday event for Uncle Scott because Aunt Kate wanted to be sure he had a whole month of celebrating the fact that he was turning 40. They went to Pittsburgh for a Steelers game and also went down through Louisville on the Bourbon trail, as well. But back to Uncle Scott's 40th birthday celebration at the bowling alley, it seemed all too appropriate because Scott is in a bowling league. All the kids loved being able to play with their Uncle.

Now, unfortunately, since Scott wasn't taking any photos, you will see that we didn't capture as many great moments as he would have on a day like this. So, in light of this reality, there are a couple of important moments to note. Firstly, the cake. The cake! The cake!! Aunt Kate worked really hard to pull off an amazing Star Wars-themed cake for her hubby. Everyone loved it. Secondly, Scott doesn't normally wear big baggy sweaters, but a group of his friends gave him the sweater in honor of their odd affinity for the Big Lebowski and the fact that he was turning 40. I guess he's the oldest guy in their group, so he will be able to return the favor to his friends as they all reach their 40th milestone.

It seemed like Scott had a great time at his party, and it was certainly nice to see so many people from all different parts of his life come together to celebrate. We love you, Uncle Sock :)

Last but not least, we celebrated Thanksgiving at the end of the month (and actually remembered to give Uncle Scott his gift from us). The day started off with Fr. Paul stopping by to say hello to everyone. He has so many nieces and nephews, and he is great with kids (as you can see below with building a tower and then watching it fall).

In the afternoon, we had a nice Thanksgiving dinner with my family, Aunt Kate and Uncle Scott, Uncle Scott's parents, and my dad's brother John and his family. The girls were thrilled that Emily's daughter, Ashlyn, was there to play with them. It was another nice Thanksgiving that mom and dad hosted.

On to all of the holiday festivities!
