Beach time and family time

The day after Disneyland, we went back to Crystal Cove, and the kids had a lovely time playing on the beach. Clare (our goddaughter) surprised me because her favorite activity was pulling seaweed out of the ocean (to "clean" the ocean). David, Jack, and I ventured out past the break in the waves--the sea was amazingly warm and powerful. It was a lot of fun.

After hanging out at the beach for a little while, we walked up a steep flight of outdoor steps and had a yummy lunch with beautiful views at a local roadside diner.

After naps and quiet time in the afternoon, we went to my dad's cousin's house. She and her husband left Richmond, IN in the 60s for Orange County, California and never looked back. They invited us over to the house for dinner, and we had a great time catching up with their family. Uncle Scott also used the opportunity to take a number of fantastic photos of all of our families in this lovely part of the property where Marilee lived called the hammock garden. It was a really nice night!
