Newport Coast Resort and Crystal Cove Beach
The week we spent at the Newport Coast resort went by so fast. The kids all played really well together, the grandparents had fun entertaining the kids, and the weather was pretty hot, pretty sunny, and pretty amazing for October by my standards. The beaches were pristine and the ocean water was a perfect temperature (much warmer than I expected). It was a really good week, no major drama, which is especially impressive when you consider the fact that there were 16 of us there.
Grandma Jean and Grandpa Joe from Virginia joined us on the adventure, and Grandma Jean absolutely loves entertaining the kids. You'll see below that it didn't take long for all of the cousins to get together and start singing silly songs with Grandma Jean (like 5 little monkeys on a bed).
The first morning at the resort, some of our family went on a bike ride around LA, and the rest of us hung out at the resort. They had lots of activities for the kids, a beautiful pool, and fantastic grounds. It was nice to have a relaxing day at the resort where the kids could just play together...especially since we were heading to Disneyland the following day.
After the bike riders finally returned, we headed to Crystal Cove State Park and the Beachcomber restaurant for dinner (and to witness the sunset). It was breathtaking. The kids had fun playing on the beach, and I never tire of the amazing photos that my brother-in-law Scott takes. Aside from Hannah getting soaked due to an unexpectedly large wave right before dinner (without a handy change of clothes), we all had a really nice evening together...
