Fourth of July!

We had a great Fourth of July this year. My parents decided to spend the night at a hotel on the north side of Indy on July 3rd, and they invited our girls to spend the night with them. Moira and Hannah love hotel adventures with Grandma and Grandpa because it is a full-on experience--pool time, movie time, snack time in the concierge room--and more!

Swimming in the hotel pool was a blast for everyone. It turns out the Fourth of July holiday is a great time to stay in a hotel because it was not crowded at all. We went swimming both in the evening and the next morning. Moira continues to make slow progress, and Hannah seems to love the water.

After a morning swim, everyone took showers and then we had a nice lunch on the terrace of the hotel. I managed to capture a couple of cute photos of the girls in their patriotic outfits.

We went home for some much-needed nap time, and then it was time for our inaugural trip downtown to watch the fireworks with the girls. They are finally old enough to stay up later for a special occasion, and they both had a great night with Aunt Kate and Uncle Scott. We started off our evening at Noodles and Co before parking in the parking garage I use for work to check out all of the activities on the canal. We had a nice ice cream dessert at a little cafe on the canal and then played around right in front of the historical society waiting for it to get dark.

Then, it finally became dark enough for us to start to see unofficial fireworks (like the picture directly below) going off. The girls were completely shocked by how loud and big the fireworks were, but they loved it in the end. They also loved their glow-in-the-dark magic wands, as evidenced in multiple photos below. All in all, it was a great Fourth of July!
