500 Festival Parade

One tradition we've had since Moira was born is to go to the 500 Festival Parade every year. In my opinion, it really is the best parade Indianapolis has to offer, and it certainly does a nice job of getting everyone excited for the race that follows the next day.

This year, I managed to convince Alan, Grandma, Aunt Kate, Uncle Scott, and one of their biking friends to join me for the Parade. Before all the festivities began, Uncle Scott took a few pictures of me and the girls with a nice shot of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on the Circle.

We saw Emily and her children very briefly in the mall behind where our seats were located. I love the photo of the kiddos with all of the balloons in the background.

Once the parade began, I wasn't sure how long we would last. In years past, we've never made it through an entire parade, and it seemed like it would be similar this time. Alan and the girls were restless, but it turns out that having the mall area right behind us worked out well. We could take breaks and get out of the sun to go walk around and yet still be close to the action. The girls seemed to enjoy the big balloons the most, and I liked seeing all of the drivers.

The theme is this year was "Feel the Rhythm"

I always love seeing the Purdue Marching Band and the giant drum

The Strawberry Shortcake balloon was one of the girls' favorites

It was a good day for a parade. The weather was gorgeous (although a bit hot for Alan), and the entertainment was memorable as well. Looking forward to next year!
