Spring Minibreak to West Virginia Part I

We decided to visit our family in West Virginia over a long spring break weekend in late March. Our excuse was a baby shower for my cousin David's wife, Amanda, but the reality was that we wanted to catch up with our family, including "Grandma Jean and Grandpa Joe". Both my sister and I went along with Grandma and Grandpa--we left the guys at home. Alan managed to paint another wall in our house while we were gone! 

The morning after we arrived, the girls had a fabulous time playing in Aunt Peggy's spa bathtub. They were so excited and so funny! 


Afterwards, Daniel and his little girl, Natalie, came over, and Moira and Hannah had so much fun playing with all of the Grandmas and the baby! They spent the afternoon at the playground before coming home for naps. Apparently, Moira surprised everyone by sliding down the pole, but she wouldn't show me when we went back later in the day.



In the evening, we went to the country club to celebrate Aunt Kate's birthday! While we were waiting for dinner to arrive, we went back to the playground, and the girls had a great time again. Many of us took turns sliding down the playground pole in an effort to encourage Moira to show us her new skill, but to no avail! 




My cousin, Lindsey, has an app that makes collages of pictures, so when we took the picture above of Hannah, it reminded Kate of a photo she had taken of Moira two years ago in the same jacket. So, below are both of our girls frozen in time at around the same age. 


When we went back into the country club, it was time to celebrate Aunt Kate's birthday. Both Moira and Hannah get very excited about celebrations of any kind at this point, and Aunt Kate's birthday was no exception. As an extra added bonus, there was a family setting up for a birthday party the following day in the room across from the restaurant, and they had a bounce house that the girls jumped in for a while before we all headed home to bed.

I am still playing catch-up from all the photos we took over the holidays, and I have a few random ones that I want to share! Here they are: Moira's first official haircut. She was so good. I wasn't sure she would sit still, but she did. The stylist did a great job of keeping her entertained! Moira walking around in her "shoes." Moira is fascinated with shoes. She loves taking our shoes on and off. And she loves walking around in adult shoes. We went to the Eiteljorg on Martin Luther King day and Moira had fun exploring the Wild Wild West. You may recall that Moira's 2nd birthday party was pretty entertaining because Moira fell asleep in her high chair, and then she was completely overwhelmed by everyone singing Happy Birthday. Since then, we have had lots of family and friend birthdays, and she has mastered singing Happy Birthday. To Hannah, With Love

Hannah, You, my darling baby girl, are growing up entirely too fast. Time flies!

It's hard to believe Moira is already 5 weeks old (today)! Here 's a quick recap: October 14th, 9:32am, Moira Joan Mackintosh came into the world. She was a healthy 7 lb, 14 oz, and 20.5 inches long. My labor was fast, but delivery was slower than I would have liked. On the whole, neither Moira nor I can complain . October 16th, we came home. I discovered after a couple of sleepless nights that Moira would only sleep for about 15 minutes in her bassinet. She preferred sleeping on someone or sleeping in her little swing. The first few weeks went by in a complete blur. We were all trying to get used to a new kind of normal. Moira and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out her preferences for eating and sleeping. Alan spent a lot of time trying to help his girls get as comfy as possible. We've had fun discovering the little things about Moira. She has dimples and so much dark hair.
