Spring minibreak to West Virginia Part 2

After celebrating Kate's birthday the night before, we had a lazy morning with a yummy breakfast before getting ready for Amanda's baby shower. I've included a highlight video of the weekend for those of you who are in a hurry or prefer to see Moira and Hannah in video format. You can access the YouTube video here if you can't see it below.

The girls had so much fun in their bubble bath again. I would venture to say that we had less fun getting ready, but we all managed to have enough time before we had to leave for a few photos in Aunt Peggy's back garden with Lindsey and Aunt Jean.

Upon arrival at the shower, I was amazed at how bee-autified the place was. They had thought of practically everything that one might imagine in decorating using a bee theme. The girls were thrilled with the fact that there was a "dance floor," a cake, cookies, honey treats, presents, balloons, and so much more! They had such a blast--minus a few moments where Hannah was "mad" and went into a corner to pout. Fortunately, there were lots of other little children around who cajoled Hannah out of her pouting moods. Very sweet.

After we arrived back at Aunt Peggy's house, everyone was exhausted. Hannah took a long nap, and the girls got into their pjs pretty fast. Aunt Peggy made a wonderful comfort-food dinner that included green beans the way my grandmother had made them. Afterwards, Moira and Hannah convinced their older cousins to play ring-around-the-rosie--I really appreciated the adults' commitment to following through on the "all-fall-down" portion of the song! After the girls started to get settled for bedtime, Kate and I ventured out with our cousins to a local martini bar for a couple of drinks.

The next morning, David and Daniel played a new "rocketship" game with Moira and Hannah. They would blast the girls off and up high into the air. I continue to be impressed with the Rogers boys and their willingness to "play" with my children. Daniel probably sat at the piano with Hannah for fifteen or twenty minutes listening to her music. Bottom line--they are so good with our girls and are already or soon will be so good with their own children as well. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend of catching up with family.
