Yuletide Celebration

The Yuletide Celebration at the Indianapolis Symphony has been happening for 28 years, and it's considered one of Indy's favorite holiday traditions. Grandma and Grandpa organize the tradition for our family, and both of the husbands have gracefully bowed out on this one for the last couple of years. We'll see about the next few years, though, because watching the holiday entertainment is not nearly as fun as watching the girls' reaction to it!

We started the day with getting dressed in our holiday party dresses, and then we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's where Hannah took a quick nap before we headed downtown. Moira decided to have a quick dance with Grandpa while Grandma was getting ready (very sweet).

Downtown Indy on a Sunday afternoon during a Colts game is tricky when it comes to parking, so we parked far away, meandered our way through parking garages, the convention center, and hotels before arriving at Circle Center where we had a delicious early dinner. Hannah wanted to sit right next to Moira, and they both delighted in eating out at the restaurant.

We then took a very short (and very cold) walk to Hilbert Circle Theater and enjoyed the beautiful lights on the Circle as well as a reindeer friend before hurrying inside to a bit of warmth!

Once inside, Hannah promptly burst into tears as she had great, great fear of all of the characters walking around. Moira, on the other hand, loved hugging all of them. Hannah clutched to me for dear life. She relaxed just enough while listening to Christmas carols on the famous Wurlitzer organ that we were able to capture a picture of all of us by the beautiful tree.

Once we found our seats, we all settled in to enjoy the amazing show. The girls were absolutely mesmerized by the singing, dancing, and the famous "Twas 'the Night Before Christmas" number. At intermission, we bought a few cookies for everyone to share, and the second half of the show went by in a flash.

After the show, both Moira and Hannah wanted to go on stage to sing and dance themselves! After a few quick photos, though, we convinced them that it was time to go home. It was truly a fantastic evening.
