'Tis the Season

Right after Thanksgiving, we unearthed all of our Christmas decorations and quickly realized that even if we used everything we owned, we still wouldn't have enough decorations for our new home. So, Moira and I made a trip to Lowe's, and she picked out the wreath you see below.

A few days later, Katy and Sarah's families came over for a quick visit. There are no photos of the kiddos because they were so busy playing (and we were so busy catching up)--although we did manage to catch Julian helping Moira and Hannah to decorate the tree. As you can see, the ornaments were very concentrated at eye level for 2-to-5-year-olds.

Miraculously, I found the time to make sugar cookie dough, and we made sugar cookies that day. Hilariously, I spaced putting the sprinkles on until it was too late. Luckily, the girls didn't seem to mind, and future batches were appropriately decorated.

A few days later, we managed to finish decorating our tree. The girls helped me with trimming the tree with ornaments and lights. Alan (of course) put the final touch on the top of the tree.

And, in my usual attempt at getting a great photo of both of the girls looking at the camera, below is my favorite result. Moira practically has Hannah in a headlock, hence Hannah's squinting. But according to Moira, they were definitely hugging. All in all, it was a lot of fun to decorate this year for our first Christmas in our new home.
