Southern Indiana Waterparks, Playgrounds and Caves
During our minibreak in French Lick, we stayed at a hotel that had a water park attached to it (much like Great Wolf Lodge). The girls had a splendid time playing, especially in the little kids section of the park. We did venture to all parts of the park, though, and Moira was brave enough to go down one of the inner tube slides with me and down the "big kids" waterslide all by herself. She's still pretty timid around water, though. We'll keep up the swimming lessons with the hopes that eventually she becomes comfortable! Marty's eldest son was a daredevil by comparison--he had a lot of fun and seemed to go down the waterslides dozens of times. Hunter and Hannah had fun hanging out in the little kids pool. Hannah loved the swing, the little slide, and stomping on the water jets.
The morning after the Polar Express, we went to a playground at the historic hotel, and the kids had a great time playing together. The men also had a lot of fun kicking around the soccer ball and catching up. It's fun to watch the guys entertaining the kids (or vice versa depending on the moment).
After our fun at the playground, we went our separate ways. Alan and I weren't sure we were going to stop at Marengo Cave on the way back because Hannah was pretty tired, but we decided to risk it. Moira and Hannah were both very excited to experience going into a cave because Alan had built it up for them (he really likes caves for some reason). Thank goodness that the cave guide gave Hannah a flashlight to play with while on the tour--otherwise, we would have been in big trouble (she was pretty nervous but the flashlight seemed to make her much less apprehensive and therefore much more quiet).
All in all, it was a very busy and very fun weekend in French Lick with our families. The girls are still talking about the train ride and playing with their cousins
