Family Learning Day and our Goodbyes

The day that Lyn and Gordon were leaving to go home to Newton Abbot happened to be the same day that we had a Family Learning Day at the Children's Museum preschool. The teachers took us through a typical day at preschool.

We spent time learning about different musical instruments and telling the story of the Three Little Pigs together using those instruments.Hannah especially loved this part--particularly shaking the little egg shakers as had as she possibly could.

We also had the chance to go outside to the new playground just for preschool students at the Children's Museum. The girls had a great time playing with Nan and Grandad and with all of the other kids.

After our playground excursion, we came back inside, and Moira worked on developing a pattern with Nan, while Grandad and I tried to wrangle Hannah.

Finally, we closed with an excellent story from Ms. Hosey about Larry getting lost in the Children's Museum! It's part of a series where a little dog gets lost in all of these cities, and they developed one of these just for the Children's Museum (can you tell I am a fan)?

After our preschool time ended, we went to the Avatar exhibit (again) because Grandad hadn't seen it, and Moira wanted to be sure he would. Moira's favorite part this time was designing her own plant for the Avatar world, as you can see below.

Once Moira and Grandad were finished in Avatar, we stopped to listen to the "pirate" folk singers (it was Talk like a Pirate Day, so they museum had all of these extra things happening around that theme. Then we headed to the airport and said our goodbyes. We were all very sad to see Nan and Grandad go. As I said before, they fit into our lives here pretty seamlessly, so it took us a little while to get back into a groove once they had left. We still miss them today, of course, but I am grateful for all the memories we have of all of us together in our new house.
