The Magic of the Season

'Tis the Season for lots and lots of fun with our little ones! It has been truly delightful to experience the run up to Christmas through the eyes of Moira. We met Sarah and Julian at the State Museum the day after Thanksgiving to celebrate Santa's arrival by helicopter. Moira is so funny because she loves to hug anything that is soft and furry--reindeers, polar bears, elmo, whatever--but she is very wary of Santa Claus.

After she had hugged the reindeer

Aren't Julian and Moira so cute?!
While we were waiting for Santa Claus to arrive by helicopter, we watched the stilt walkers juggle. Moira thought it was just hilarious every time one of them would drop a pin (whether on purpose or not!).

Moira was intrigued by the jugglers

Waiting (not so patiently) for Santa

It was a beautiful day.

There's Santa!

He walked right by us (it made Moira nervous)!

The day after we saw the helicopter landing of Santa Claus, Alan brought home a beautiful tree for all of us to decorate. Again, Moira was fascinated. She was very nervous about the tree "breaking" because it was all wrapped up with twine until Alan started to cut it away.

Note Moira's concern!

After we'd put the lights and tinsel on--she was more comfortable with the tree!

Hannah with the Santa we use to measure growth...she's big!

Sparkly and shiny tinsel!

Alan, Moira, Aunt Kate and I took the girls for our annual trip to Celebration Crossing at the Statehouse. Moira and Hannah had a great time exploring the corn exhibit at the museum and then riding the train numerous times before seeing Santa. Unfortunately, Santa was definitely a little intimidating to Moira (again it baffles me as she is fine hugging any of the strange furry creatures she encounters), but Hannah, being the fabulously easygoing baby that she is, just simply looked at Santa and cooed. So cute...

Moira loved driving the tractor...

Again, note Moira hugging the polar bear...

After we finished at the State Museum, we had lunch next door at the Eiteljorg Cafe, and afterwards Moira wandered through the Jingle Rails exhibit with her dad...before having a small meltdown due to such a long day! More to come soon on some of the other fun we've been having during this holiday season!
