Paignton-Dartmouth Steam Railway

Moira had never been on a train before, and we thought taking a steam train from Paignton to Dartmouth would be the perfect introduction. The coast is so, so, so pretty in south Devon, and the train runs right along the water. We were fortunate to have a gorgeous day.

Moira was so delighted when the whistle blew the first time!
Once the train started, the ride to Dartmouth took about half an hour. Gordon couldn't join us on this trip because he had to take care of "Monty the dog" (he injured his leg in the garden), but he took some beautiful pictures from Broadsands (yet another beachy area).

Once we arrived in Kingswear, we had to take a ferry to get to the beautiful city of Dartmouth. This city is literally built into the hillside. Once in Dartmouth, we had lunch, walked along the river, and had an ice cream (which thrilled Moira).

After spending just a little bit of time in Dartmouth, it was time to get home before Moira had a complete meltdown due to lack of a nap. Thank goodness Nan, Uncle Gav, and Daddy were all along to help keep her entertained. All in all, the train ride was a big success.
