Thanksgiving madness!

We hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving break. It was very busy in our neck of the woods. We had a lovely Thanksgiving day with my parents, the Lukens from Arizona, the Warpools including Scott's parents, and our good friends Les and Linda Stewart.

My brother and his family were in town for the entire week, so Moira had a great time playing with all of her cousins. Really, saying she had a great time is an understatement. She would squeal with delight every time the "chicken dance" came on in the basement (Emma's favorite), and she constantly asked us where Emma, Jack, and Clare were whenever she was not around them (she didn't really have much to say about Joe...which I thought was funny since he is closest in age to her). She had a particular affinity for Emma and would follow her around wherever she would go. And the kids all loved playing around in my parents' basement. They couldn't get enough of the "bouncy castle" or the puppet theater or the boombox.

We went to the Children's Museum on Friday, and it was mobbed with lots of post-Thanksgiving visitors. It was all decked out for the holidays. The kids had a great time riding the carousel (although Moira is very picky about which horsie she rides--she says she wants a black horse, but then she gets upset when she's put on the black horse, and she gets even more upset when the carousel ride is finished); exploring the science area; answering the phones, playing with dolls, and walking the catwalk in the Barbie exhibit; and sliding down the big slide in the main atrium. By far, Moira liked the Barbies the best. She cannot get enough of baby dolls. It's super cute.

On Saturday, we saw Santa Claus for the first time at the State Museum. Sadly, Moira was not into Santa Claus this year, so I had to have my picture taken with her! She was much more into the choo-choo train, and again, she did not want her choo-choo train ride to ever end, especially since Emma was holding her. She would throw a fit when we had to physically remove her from the train. We're working on the concept of taking turns, but we're not there yet!

Anyway, she had fun again with her cousins, and it all culminated in a Star Wars birthday party for Jack and Uncle "Sock" (Scott). Moira didn't really have any idea what was going on, other than the fact that she could play with her cousins some more, but Jack seemed to have a blast. The highlight for me was playing a Star Wars version of pin-the-tail- on-the-donkey. Jack was very competitve, and Uncle Sock was a very good sport and a gracious loser to Jack. Kate's cake was gorgeous and yummy, and the whole event was quite the success.

On Sunday, David's family left, so Moira was disappointed when she awoke. Luckily, my friends Katy and Lauren were in town and we all met at the Children's Museum (again). This time we went to the dinosaurs in addition to all of the other attractions, and Moira had fun with Ray and Ruby. I also had a good time catching up with my friends--I only wish it could happen more frequently!
