Playing Catch-Up

I'm not sure where the end of June and most of July went, but it sure passed by in a hurry! We have been busy with the usual summer activities, although we've been indoors more than usual because of the sweltering heat! I can tell you, though, that Moira's love for the outside, despite the heat, has not diminished. Anyway, here are some highlights:

For Father's Day, Alan had to go to work (boo). But Moira gave him hugs and kisses that morning, and then we went with Grandpa and Grandma to the new nature park at the Art Museum.

Moira and I are going to a gymnastics class, and it's so much fun. She is learning so much, especially how to jump really high on the trampoline, hang on the bars, and balance on the beam. She has to pay attention for a full 50 minutes, which is a stretch, but we have a good time. She's very into stuffed animals and dolls, though not so much into the pool (particularly after she's been under water for a brief moment). She loved the baby pool, though. That's where we'll spend our time the next time. And she still loves music. Playing piano, the harmonica, dancing, and so much more.

She also loves her Aunt Kate and Uncle "Sock." She just started calling him that recently. In fact, she's going through a major language explosion at the moment. She has all kinds of words that she uses; she can say at least 4 colors; and she can count to 10 with help. She also is starting to boss us around with comments like "Goodbye Mama" when she's closing a door, and she doesn't want me to follow. Or she'll say "shoes off," "go outside," "hugs mama," and so much more.

Laura and David were married on July 9th in Cleveland (on a beautiful summer evening), and the week before we went to Lawrenceburg for a girl's afternoon. You can see that Moira and Claire, Emily's little girl, had a good time bonding on the car trip there. The car trip home was a little more complicated, but we had a good time nonetheless!

And then this last weekend we traveled to St. Louis for my new godson's baptism. Connor Thomas Brown, who is only a couple of months old and already a healthy 14 pounds, slept through the entire ceremony! Isn't he adorable? And his parents and grandparents are so proud. It was great to be around all of the family again.
