Denver Volume I

The week after Nana and Granddad left, we all packed up and headed out to Denver, Colorado. I had a conference to attend for my work, and Alan wanted to visit his brother and sister-in-law in Louisville (near Boulder). After a relatively eventful flight (minutes before we were supposed to take off, a huge storm barreled through Indianapolis; the airport authority made everyone de-plane due to a tornado spotted southwest of Indy--it was crazy), we arrived safely in Denver.

Our hotel was awesome. The only downside was that it was so far away from Scott and Kristin. But Moira absolutely loved exploring all the nooks and crannies of the place. One of the highlights was taking Moira swimming. Last year she wasn't so keen on the idea, but this year she is much more comfortable in the water.

Our first day in Denver was great fun despite some really bad weather. I heard that the sun is almost always shining in Denver, but not the first couple of days we were they! Anyway, after getting settled into the hotel, Scott and Kristin treated us to a visit to the Denver Aquarium (a good rainy day activity). Moira was intrigued with all of the fish, and Alan had a great time showing her around. Afterwards, we all went back to Scott and Kristin's lovely home. While Moira napped, we had a chance to catch up, and then in the evening we went for a really yummy dinner at Empire, a local restaurant in Louisville. It was a great way to start off the week in Denver.
