Rainy Days in Phoenix
Yep, you read it right. We just returned from visiting my extended family and staying at a lovely resort in Phoenix, and it was rainy! People here were almost in as much shock as we were. My favorite moment was when the newscasters reminded everyone to check their windshield wipers to make sure they worked! But really, it was not that bad. Rainy meant light drizzle most of the time, and we did have some sunshine almost every day. It beat the gray days in Indy. Below is my Aunt Jean and the kids at the resort.
Moira traveled well, which is due largely to the fact that she is fascinated by just about everything. Even looking out the window on the plane was a novelty, and every time the captain came over the loudspeaker, her head shot back to look at where the disembodied voice was coming from. On the return trip, thanks to a tip from my brother, we asked the attendant if there were extra seats and were able to let her sit in her car seat for free!
She thoroughly enjoyed her reunion with her cousins. They all play together so well (most of the time), and I think Joseph liked the fact that he was no longer the littlest one in the group. He was able to boss Moira around and take her toys away, which was probably a very refreshing change for him! Clare and Emma couldn't get enough of her and fought over who would push her stroller or hold her. And Jack, well, he was usually too wrapped up in his Nintendo DS to take much notice, but even he sneaked in a few cute moments with Moira.
And despite the cool (for Phoenix) weather, the adults managed to enjoy dining out, museums, shopping, resort pools, tennis courts, spa amenities, hiking, and more. It was wonderful to get away from the daily grind...after all, Alan and I hadn't had a long vacation in almost a year!
Last but not least, for those who read all the way to the bottom, we took family pictures while we were together in Phoenix. Enjoy!
