A nice quiet birthday celebration

A year ago today at 9:32 in the morning, Moira came into our world. And she hasn't looked back since (neither have we). It's been an unforgettable year for all of us. To celebrate her first birthday, we decided to take it easy. Moira slept in until about 8:15am, and she took a cat nap right before lunch. After lunch, we skyped with Nana, Grandad, and Uncle Gav in the U.K., and we gave her another bumblebee cake to squish between all her fingers and eventually eat.

She loved opening her presents and was absolutely enthralled by her new "laptop," which Uncle Gav rightly said we would learn to love to hate. In fact, when we tried to take her toy away, she threw her first official 1-year-old temper tantrum. I need to work on my discipline skills because I thought she was supercute in the midst of her tantrum. It was so obvious and intentional--she literally dove out on the floor and kicked her feet in protest. Anyway, she had a great time opening her gifts (thanks to everyone), and we had an equally good time watching her.

After we finished skyping, we headed to the Children's Museum for about an hour and did our usual routine hitting Playscape and the Carousel.

By then, Moira was pretty tired, so we decided to head home. My parents and sister stopped by to wish Moira a Happy Birthday as well and by 7pm, she was asleep. It was a great day for all of us.
