Fall Fun!

Most people probably know that I'm not a Halloween fanatic. It's just never been my thing. Getting dressed up for parties requires too much planning, and I could always manage to find a million other things to do before finally focusing on putting together a clever costume. But dressing Moira up in a costume...well, that's a different story.

We had so much fun going to ZooBoo with the Charltons. Moira looked super cute in her ladybug outfit, and she had a lot of fun playing with Claire and Jack. It was a cool, gray day in Indianapolis, which apparently is a good time to visit the zoo because animals that normally shy away from the hot sun were out in full force. The kiddos had a blast trick-or-treating in their costumes, and they had fun playing together at our house afterwards. It was a great night.

The very next day was an absolutely gorgeous (albeit still a little cool) fall day, so my mom and I decided to make the most of it while Alan was at work by visiting a local apple orchard. We went on a hay ride to the pumpkin patch, and we learned that Moira was much more interested in hay than pumpkins. She was also intrigued with the tractor ride itself, but as you can see from the photos, the hay was definitely more interesting than anything else! After the hay ride, we had a nice, overdue lunch at the orchard, bought some fresh apples, had some hot apple cider, and headed home. It was definitely an adventure for Moira (she was so tired when we finally returned home), but I think in the end she really enjoyed it.

Last but not least, I have to give a quick shout out to some of my old IFSA friends. Jeff and Becky came back to Indy to visit last weekend, which gave all of the rest of us a good excuse to get together. We had some yummy Thai food and went to see Johnny Socko, a ska band from my high school days who was having a reunion show. It was so much fun having a grown-up night out and catching up with old friends. Becky--send me this photo so I can put a bigger version up on the blog!
