Returning home and my first Mother's Day
The rest of our trip to the U.K. went by so fast that I haven't even had a chance to catch up on the blog! It seems like it was so long ago, but in reality, only a few weeks have passed. So much has happened since.
The last few days of our trip to the U.K. were a little rainy, but it didn't stop us from going for a couple more walks through the countryside. We went to Haldon, one of Gordon and Lyn's regular spots for walking, and the plan was to find a field of bluebells in bloom (they had been there last year and thought it was beautiful). We started walking down this path that they had been down before, and we kept encountering whole trees that had fallen over the path. Alan was maneuvering (with Moira) through them pretty well, but then the rain
started, and our easy walk started to resemble a jungle obstacle course. That's when Gordon gave up and decided that some silly landowners who were having a dispute with the park about boundaries had purposely blocked the path! So, we turned around and managed to keep Moira dry while the rest of us endured a really soggy walk back to the car. In all of our years of going on nice long walks through the English countryside, this was the only time we didn't manage to make it to our destination! It was pretty funny, and thankfully Lyn was waiting for us with a hot cup of tea when we returned home.
Here's another great picture of Moira from our trip to the U.K. Both Gordon and Gavin are really good photographers. I'm not sure when they managed to capture this photo, but I love it!

When we returned home, Moira didn't miss a beat getting back into her normal schedule. She's such a good baby. A few days after we got back, she met one of the many new babies in her life, Hadley Hamilton-Lowe. He's the son of my good friend Angie, and he's about 10 weeks old in the photo. It was so funny to watch Moira inspecting him--she even grabbed his hand at one point and practically made him topple over.

We celebrated my first Mother's Day a couple days later. Moira gave me a very nice card with her handprint inside (thanks Daddy) and a lovely stone with her handprints (to put in the garden...thanks Grandma).
More to come soon on our exciting trip to NYC!
