Manhattan Revisited
So, the last time Alan and I were in New York, it was 2002. We spent a lot of time in Brooklyn with most of my good friends from high school. We did the usual sightseeing things (with the help of our friends who lived there) and at night we stayed out until the wee hours feasting at fantastic restaurants and listening to great music at clubs. We were free to do as we pleased.
Fast forward to May 2009, and we had all gathered again for Lauren's wedding in Central Park at the Boathouse. Lauren is the last of my friends from high school to get married. I can't tell you how different this trip was because we had not one, not two, but three babies in tow this time! It could have been four, but Katy decided to leave the kids at home. So, needless to say, our trip this time was not so jam-packed with sightseeing activities...it seemed like as soon as one baby was ready to go the other one needed to eat or have a diaper change.

Honestly, though, the babies did remarkably well. And I was impressed with how much we managed to do. We walked around Washington Park and Little Italy, saw peacocks and polar bears at Central Park Zoo, and went to the Top of the Rockefeller Center. Moira loved being in her stroller and seeing everything going on around her, and she usually had a smile for anyone who stopped to say hello.

The wedding, our excuse for getting together, was absolutely stunning. The ceremony itself was so unique and intimate. Lauren looked beautiful, and she even managed to sing a song she wrote to her husband. At the end a few key people started singing "So Happy Together," and everyone eventually joined in. It was so much fun. After soaking up the view of Central Park from the Boathouse, we all settled in for a fantastic evening of great eats and lots of dancing. Alan was kind enough to take Moira home and let me stay out with the girls, which I really appreciated.

Moira has already traveled so much, and we're not done yet. We're going to Phoenix this weekend. Then we're staying home for the rest of the summer and relaxing...I swear :)
